Bee Day Party

On Saturday morning we had a little birthday party for Pepper. Her birthday really is not until the 16th, but both grandma's were in town so we jumped on the opportunity to celebrate with them. A couple hours before the party, we put the presents out (with-in her reach). She kept peeking in the bags and snooping around. Occasionally she would walk off with a present. Just like her dad... can hardly wait for a suprise.
Growing up, I always had a birthday cake that was shaped like whatever my favorite thing at the time was. The Little Mermaid, Hippo, Seadoo, the Chilean Flag :) were just a few. I chose to do a bee theme because Pepper's first recognizable sound was buzz. She says it whenever we see a bee in a book. Then my mom baked and decorated the cake for us. Thanks mother!
I made Robert wear this bee hat while he read them a story called "The Bee and the Robber". I was impressed... all of the kids at least mostly paid attention.

I gathered rocks from around the yard and painted them to look like bees. Heather glued eyes on and made them wings. At the party we hid them (as in sat them in obvious places) and had the kids look for them. Like an Easter egg hunt. They were cool enough looking that even Pepper who I am sure did not know what she was suppose to be doing, was walking around picking them up.
Pepper opened a few books and it was so cute, she immediatly started looking through them. She was pretty interested in all of her presents.

Pepper got this bee car from her Grandma Paxman, however, we weren't sure if she really knew what to do wth those antennas.

Pepper loves to use utensils when she is eating and insists on doing it herself.
